Nodding to what Mary-Kate said, the daughter of Zeus mourned the loss of the jovial mood the four were in, giving only a slightly hesitant glance from Mary-Kate to Saber, muscles tensing at the thought that she'd have to settle down. Feeling something bounce of her forehead, the girl looked down onto the table to see the crumpled straw lying a few inches from her, a sigh escaping from her lips. "Yeah, sounds good." Ari murmured, knowing better than to argue with Mary-Kate at this point. Leaning forward, she let one elbow rest on the table, placing her chin in that same hand, giving Saber a fish-eyed expression as he left the table.
Suddenly not in the mood for laughs at Saber's expense, Ari's eyes found themselves clouding slightly, but nothing that couldn't pass for a typical slight change in the weather. She zoned out, not listening to what either of her sisters were talking about until a movement caught her attention. Watching Mary-Kate leave, Ari only sighed again, taking the opportunity to take a sip of her root beer. Their waiter arrived at that point, providing another distraction for the DemiGod, and she listened to Riley's order in silence, while chewing lightly on her lip. "Nothing for me, thanks." She murmured, handing her menu to the waiter as he retreated. Leaning back in her chair once more, Zeus' daughter let her mind shift to other places as they waited for Mary-Kate and Saber to return, preoccupied with the idea of the Titans. If such a war began, Camp Half-Blood was far from ready to supply a counter attack to help their parents. And the idea that these Titans were even stronger than her father was frightened Ari deeply, and preyed on her moods regularly.

It wasn't long before Mary-Kate saw a slightly familiar figure sitting in the middle of one of the backroads with no one around. "Thanks, Mom", she thought to herself as she picked up her pace to approach Saber.
Her eyes were the color of drizzling rain as she approached Saber. She even had a small smile on her face.
Then she saw the gash on his arm, and the almost pale look on his face, and he was covered with monster dust, and her smile turned into a frown as she came to stand over the boy.
"What happened?", she murmered, more to herself than Saber. She surveyed the scene the same way she would a calculus problem as she thought about it. She looked down at Saber, with an almost frightened expression. "We should get you a bandage for that arm", she stated simply.
Mary-Kate would never admit it, but she was terrified. More for Saberm but also for herself. How was she going to get anything done if she had to keep Saber in her sights all the time, to make sure he was OK? Sure, he was a demigod, but he was also relatively new to demigod life. That made him extremely vulnerable. Truthfullt, Mary-Kate didn't want the boy to die. They were going to need all the demigods they could get if the Titans were creating an army.
Saber couldn't die on her watch. She'd never trust herself to lead another Quest again if he did. She plastered a fake smile on her face and held out a hand to Saber to help him stand up. "C'Mon", she said, "Let's go get that map. Then we'll got get your arm fixed up."

Riley gave Ari a concerned look, and turned back to the mortal. "I think the other two want a burger and..." She thought about it for a moment, then smirked. "A burger. Yeah. Two burgers!" She handed the menu back to the waiter, and he took off. Riley gently poked Ari. "Hey, you alright?" She asked softly. "Why aren't you getting anything?" Saber took her hand and allowed himself to be pulled up. He smiled happily at her, he was glad to see her after that event. "I'm perfectly fine! Just resting a bit. I was attacked by this HUGE monster, but I took him down with no problem." The boy nodded proudly. He turned to look down as he felt the red blood trickling down his arm. He gave it a light glare, then licked his arm as a cat might. At least it doesn't taste bad. His blood had an unusual strawberry taste, which was his secret. Nobody else really knew, except anyone who had taken a bite out of him.

Raising an eyebrow at her friend's mischief, the girl decided it wasn't her place to get involved and so let her order the two burgers without problem. Shrugging, Ari brushed Riley's concern off, not making eye contact with the girl. "What, can't it get cloudy without people blaming me all the time?" There was a slight hint of a snap in her tone, and she glowered at the finger that had poked her arm. "I'm just not hungry, that's all." Of course, there was some truth in that - she wasn't hungry, but it was because of a hot knot of anxiety that had settled in the pit of her stomach.
Sighing, Ari leaned back and rubbed her neck, pursing her lips quietly. "No, I'm sorry for snapping at you. I'm fine, but there's something bugging me about the Gods and the Titans, as well as being a child of the Big Three. But nothing that's new, or that will affect the quest at all, I hope." Her tone was distant, but the girl's gaze was grounded in her worry, asking Zeus to keep the monsters away from her and her friends. A child of the Big Three tended to attract more monsters, and even if she'd never professed this fear to Mary-Kate or Riley, they'd be able to guess it.

Mary-Kate made a face as the boy licked his own blood. She looked around for something she could use as a bandage for the boy's arm. She took her duffel bag off her shoulders, ripped a piece off an extra shirt and grabbed the boys hand, straightening out his arm. She tied the orange fabric around his wound and then nodded, satisfied with her work.
"I kinda figured", she said, looked up into his amber eyes after she finished wrapping his arm. She coughed and blushed a little at the distance- well, rather lack there of- between them. Immediatley, the blonde teenager took a couple steps back away from the boy.
She put her hand behind her head and smiled up at him. "Let's go get the map. The museum's this way, Idiot!".

Riley's eyes went dark as she glared at Ari, her foot tapping right away. "I was just asking. That's all." She said coldly. She softened slightly at the apology, nevertheless, and sighed. "Don't worry about it, Ari. This Quest'll go fine. Everything's going to be fine. There's nothing to worry about." Being overly-optimistic, as usual. Saber laughed nervously as he noticed her reaction to him licking his blood. "It doesn't taste bad, honestly. Never tasted your own blood?" He'd heard normal blood didn't taste so pleasant- in fact, he'd tasted it himself once, it was much different than his own- and so probably she didn't like her blood. That, or he was a Son of Athena, and for some unusual reason, Athenian children had strawberry blood. Suddenly, their faces were close, his eyes meeting hers. He blushed a little... that was unexpected. And maybe a bit awkward. The boy smiled though as she backed away. "You have nice eyes..." He complemented. "Pretty uncommon color. My eyes are really boring..." Saber then glared at her when he was called an idiot. It was a light and playful glare though, but he still felt a bit hurt by the comment. "You didn't even tell me where the museum was! How the heck was I supposed to know?!"

Mary-Kate blushed as the boy complemented her eyes. "My eyes?", she asked stupidly, "They're not that special... All Children of Athena have them..." She trailed off nervously, and not without a faint trace of blush still on her cheeks. She turned her gaze to look into his eyes. "Your eyes are nice too! I've never seen that shade of amber. I wouldn't be insulting my eye color if I were you...". She gave another nervous laugh. "Are we really standing here comparing eye colors?" She gave a half-hearted grin and shoved a piece of hair behind her ear, a common act when she was nervous.
She finally got up the courage to look him in the eye when he started complaining about not knowing where the museum was. She gave an arrogent smirk and rolled her eyes. "Why didn't you just ask me where the museum was at? You almost got yourself KILLED by not asking." There was no joke in the serious stare she was gving him. "There is no way you're going to die on a Quest /I/ lead. Just make sure you know where you're going next time, okay?

"Really?" He questioned. "Meh. Well, they looks really pretty on you. So... I guess that makes them pretty special." Their eyes met once more. Her eyes are really nice... and she is really cute... but so is her sister... they do look the same... Still, for whatever reason... he was starting to feel a bit more attached to Mary-Kate. Maybe it was because Riley was plain annoying. Whatever it was, it didn't matter. "You really think my eyes are nice...?" He asked, shocked. "But amber's such a boring color... whatever you say... and yes. We are comparing eye colors." He returned her nervous laugh, though it had a bit more amusement than nervousness. "I didn't ask because you just ordered me to go. What was I supposed to do? And I'm fine. I was no where near death, Mary. This isn't my first time fighting monsters, I had to face them a lot on the streets. Sometimes more than one. That monster was nothing." Saber wasn't even bragging, he was totally serious. "I'm not going to die. Don't worry about it." The curly-haired boy rolled his eyes. "You seem so worried about me."

"I'm not going to die. Don't worry about it." The words rang in Mary-Kate's ears. Immediatley a knot settled in her stomach, as if the boy had just signed his own death sentence. The blonde haired girl looked up into Saber's eyes, gray on amber. "Don't be so confident,", she murmered, "Things happen. Everything doesn't always go like you plan". There was pain in her eyes, something she wasn't telling the boy. She'd learned the hard way that you can't just say you weren't gunna die. Especially when you were a demigod and many nasty monsters were involved.
The daughter of Athena averted her eyes from Saber. "I'm worried because you're part of the team. I'm one of the leaders on this Quest. As a general rule, I try to keep the people I'm responsible for alive. Riley and Ari have been training at Camp for years. You just got there. Sure, you fought monsters in the real world, but you really don't know /anything/".
She looked up into his eyes again. "You barely know how to survive. Just because you know how to fight a monster or two when they attack you doesn't mean you know everything. I hate to break it to you, but you're not invincible and I really wish you'd quit acting like it."
The teenager waited for her words to absorb into the boy's head. How would he take it? She didn't know. She didn't want him blowing up at her, but the boy needed to hear it. His arrogence was going to get him killed.

Saber narrowed his eyes at her. "I don't know anything?!" He growled. "I barely know how to survive?! Well, I've been on the streets practically my ENTIRE life, with no one to back me up, no one to stand up for me, I've been fighting monsters since I was a little kid, and you're telling me I barely know how to survive?!" His eyes were enraged flames now. The boy turned away from her. "Yeah, I may not be invincible, but I can take care of myself! I don't need anyone! I didn't even want to go to stupid Camp Half-Blood anyway!" He stomped off angrily, not realizing he was going in the opposite direction of the museum... again.

Mary-Kate rushed forward and grabbed the back of the boy's shirt, stopping him in his tracks. "Now you hold on a minute!", she said, "I didn't mean to insult you. But we're demigods. We /all/ lived like that at one point or another", she stated. She grabbed his hands and looked up into his eyes. "We're all impressed you learned to survive, Saber. Not many demigods can live like that for as long as you did. Most of us didn't want to go to Camp, Saber. Riley and me included. We had the /perfect/ life! Our father was rich and successful, we were both making good grades in school, even with ADHD and dyslexia. Sure, I never had many friends, but that never bothered me. Then the monsters started attacking when I was 9, and a satyr came and took me and Riley. My father...", she trailed off a minute, letting go of Sabers hands and averting her eyes. She took a deep beath, then looked into Saber's eyes again. "My father asked me and Riley to never come back, for the well being of everyone else around us." Her voice was shaky, and began to crack at the end of her statement. She took a couple steps back. "So just because you grew up on the streets doesn't mean you're the only one who's had a hard life. The museum's this way. Let's go"
With that, the blonde headed teenager took a shaky breath and began walking the opposite direction. Her father's request wasn't something she thought about often, and it felt as if an old wound had opened. Mary-Kate was a demigod, so her mother was never around much. But Mary-Kate could never understand why her father had requested his own children to never come back to him. She still remembered the scene well, and her father had been so very calm. The man was giving up his children, and he'd asked them to never return to the town like he'd ask for a hamburger at a restaurant. Like it was something he didn't think about much. Mary-Kate didn't like to talk about it, but it still bothered her. The man was her father. Why didn't he want her or her sister around?

Saber felt a tug, was almost ready to smack Mary-Kate as she pulled on his shirt. "What do you-?!" She had grabbed his hands, looking into his eyes, telling her own story, and he softened. Poor Mary and Riley... As she went ahead, he followed her silently for about a minute or two, then put his hand gently on her shoulder. "I never had any friends, and my mom didn't want me, either. From when I was a baby. And my dad doesn't seem to care that I exist. So I guess we have a bit in common." The boy sighed faintly. These things never really bothered him, but what she had said earlier made him look like he was weak, like his life had been so easy, he just couldn't help but retaliate. "You okay?" The fierce flame had now died down in his eyes, soothing to a warm, compassionate hearth.

Mary-Kate felt the boy's hand on her shoulder and turned around slowly, listening to him. She have a slight nod. "Yeah, I guess we do have a little bit in common. I'm sure your dad cares you exist. It's weird that he hasn't claimed you yet, but I'm sure he will soon. Who knows? Maybe it could be this Quest. After all, the prophecy did talk about an unknown hertiage. That could be you!"
The blonde teenager let out a faint chuckle when he asked her if she was ok. "Yeah. After we got to Camp, we met someone who pretty much raised us. We got off better than most." She turned to face the boy, and looked him straight on as she said. "I'm sorry for not sending someone to go with you, I didn't think...", her voice faltered at the end and she cleared her throat. "No way am I letting you run off by yourself anymore." Her voice was confident. "It's nothing personal, but none of us should be alone. Being a demigod's dangerous, and we should plan accordingly." He shrugged. "I guess it could be me..." Saber still hoped he was one of 'the Big Three'. A Son of Zeus, that'd be the best. Or a Son of Poseidon, being able to mess with water and all that. Poseidon was water... right? He had never really been exposed to much water, so he wouldn't really know. As for the third.. the third was... the third was... Hades? Yep, that was the guy. The god of death and the Underworld. Didn't sound too bad. All three sounded absolutely delightful, but he wanted to be a Son of Zeus most of all. Zeus was the greatest, the leader of all. Stupid Zeus, why haven't you claimed me yet?! Where are my powers?! Saber drifted out of his thoughts, and back to Mary-Kate. "Okay, fine. But I still can handle being on my own." He said with a smirk. "You sure you okay? You sound a little... upset. Like you're going to cry or something." The demi-god thought it over for a moment, wondering if it was his fault. "I'm sorry I snapped at you, if that's what's bothering you..."

Mary-Kate shook her head. "Nah, it's nothing you did. I just really don't want anything happening to anyone on this Quest. It, well, means a lot to me. Ya know? Not seeing people die is something I'd like to do". The girl managed a small smile. Saber was an interesting case. On the outside he normally acted immature, but once you saw past that, he was actually sort of normal. Sweet, even.
"Alright, we really need to go get that map. It shouldn't take too long to do. Then we can go eat, and then..", she resisted the urge to smile, "We strike at midnight." [/sup]
