Mary-Kate's gaze hardened, and the familiar tinge of red remained on her cheeks as she muttered. "As a matter of fact..!" with a quick motion, the blonde daughter of Athena withdrew her knife and threw the boy to the ground in the same move. Without hesitation, she put a foot on his chest. "Why won't you fight /me/?!", she demanded.
She stood with one sneaker on the boy's chest and her arms crossed. Her piercing gray gaze was pointed full blast at the boy laying helplessly at her feet. Her unanswered question hung densly in the air, and it was clear that Mary-Kate was not going to let the boy go until he answered her question.

Saber was thrown to the floor, and without any time to think, a foot was pressing down on his chest. His amber eyes blinked up at her, and was a bit confused by the girl's agitation. "Because there hasn't really been a chance to fight you." He answered simply. "I had to go out on my own, then I got attacked by a monster. Had a bit of rest, then decided to fight Riley because we hate each other. I mean I haven't even fought Ari either. Why're you so upset?" "Maybe he's afraid he'll lose to you!" Riley teased lightly. "AM NOT!" Riley giggled, and watched the two. "Anyways, the boy DOES have a point. Why are you so upset?"

Mary-Kate's cheeks turned a shade of pink darker than they had been and she gave a shrug. "Why don't you hate /me/?!", she demanded, "I like beating up on people. It's a nice hobby to keep myself in practice, and a practice battle would've been nice...", the teenager zoned off for a minute, with an almost wistful look in her gray eyes.
She refocused with a harder look in her eyes, and an almost hurt tone in her voice as she said, "My sister doesn't do ANYTHING without me! And you just marched yourself in here and violated that rule! /TWICE/! The first being when we went to the museum. Riley should've been there! Chiron couldn't even pick only one of us to run the cabin after... the last Head Counselor died..." A soft look overtook the blonde's face. Three seconds later it was refocused on Saber, arguably more ferocious than before. [/sup]

"... you haven't given me a reason to hate you?" Saber giggled after this statement, then went on. "Riley's really annoying, but you haven't annoyed me yet. And you're nice and caring." He gestured to the cloth on his arm to prove his point. At the change of topic, he raised an eyebrow. "Well, whose fault is that?" His gaze shifted between the two identical siblings. "You could have easily taken Riley with you. Don't blame me!" He noticed her voice fade a little, but didn't bother asking. The boy really didn't want to hear about it, and for all he knew, Mary-Kate didn't want to talk about it.

Mary-Kate looked at Saber in complete disbelief. "Nice and /caring/?!", she exclaimed, "Are you sure we're still talking about me?!".
The teenager gave a smirk as she kept the boy firmly under her sneaker. "Who exactly is holding you under her sneaker right now? Does that classify as nice and caring? I have you the cloth as standard first aide presedure. Don't think it's because I care."
The girl moved her foot to let the boy up and gave a little shrug. "Eh. No big deal. Believe me. We can more than hold our own individually. It's good insentive to keep strangers away from us. Which is why it was VERY strange for you to keep around us." The girl gave a careless shrug of her shoulders the continued, "I guess you like pain."
The girl gave a smirk and waited for the boy to get off the dusty ground.
((Sorry it's so short. You're lucky I posted though. I found the perfect song to write the post to. It gave me muse!)) [/sup]

Saber sighed as she lifted the weight of her foot. "Alright. You have a point. Nice and caring to an extent. That good?" An amber eye disappeared as he winked at her, and reappeared once more.
He pushed himself off the ground, towering over her again. "Pain makes me stronger!" He said enthusiastically. "Besides, you wouldn't really hurt me too much, I don't think. You love me too much!" Maybe saying something along the lines of 'you're caring' again might have been a better choice, but he wasn't thinking. Saber brushed off the dust.
"Yo. I'm getting food." The voice belonged to Riley (WHO WE HAVEN'T SEEN IN LIKE TWENTY YEARS, WOAH.), footsteps blending in with the voice as she left. "I still haven't finished mah chicken fingerz. They gots to be finished." Giving them one last look to see if the two were following, a sly smirk formed on her face. The girl turned away quickly, her blonde hair dancing gently on the breeze, and left.
Saber stared after her for a moment, then turned to Mary-Kate. "I finished my food..." He said. His voice, eyes, his whole expression seemed expectant, as if he wanted something.

Mary-Kate rolled her eyes. "To an EXTENT?! I guess that'll hafta do" She watched the boy get off the ground and tower over her once more. His black hair was full of dirt from where he'd been laying in the dirt, and Mary-Kate resisted the urge to reach out and touch the raven curls.
The blonde crossed her arms as Saber declared the reason he was sure Mary-Kate wouldn't hurt him too badly. "Love you too much? As if. But if you want to think that, go ahead. Finding people's weaknesses are my specialty." Her eyebrows were rasied and a scary, almost madman like, look was in her gray eyes. The look was intimidating enough to scare even the bravest demigods. It was as if the small girl was looking straight though the boy in front of her, studying him. Analyzing him.
The look remained in her eyes as she heard her sister leave, and jerked her head in the same direction as Saber stated his food was gone. "You can have the rest of mine", she said, "Might as well, since you invaded my food-space already when you tried to steal my Coke!" [/sup]

Saber almost flinched at her intimidating appearance. Creepy little girl. He thought. The boy smiled as she changed the topic. "EW! YOU BIT YOURS!" He exclaimed, going in the direction of Riley. "But then again... I'm starving." In other words, he didn't care at all.
He went back to the topic previous to that of food. "So, my weakness..." He looked the girl over, as if he was analyzing her now. Of course, he was too dumb for that. Or was he...
"So what IS my weakness, Mary-Kate?" He asked with interest. "Tell me. I wanna' know."
(("Your weakness is you smell like strawberries." "..."))

Mary-Kate put her hands in the pockets in her jeans and gave a thoughtful frown. "Your weakness is...", the blonde began, struggling to come up with something she could make up. She wasn't actually going to tell him his weaknesses. If she did that, it wouldn't be an advantage for her. Suddenly, she got a strong smell of something...
Her ADHD side recognized the smell immediatley and Mary-Kate found herself blurting out "Strawberries!". Her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink before she gave a champion grin and said "Your weakness is that you smell like strawberries. It's a very serious condition that results in most enemies not being able to take you seriously and dying of laughter".
The blonde's gray eyes were light and carefree as she walked back into the restaurant and sat down. She picked up her hamburger and handed it to Saber. "It's identical to yours except for the fact it has my DNA on it. Here." [/sup]

As she was thinking, Saber looked very achieved. "Well, I think it's pretty obvious that I have no-" ... he was cut out by her outburst. Suddenly, his face was probably as red as a strawberry. The boy cleared his throat. "Why can you smell that...?" He muttered darkly, obviously embarrassed. "Because no one ever notices it unless they get really close to me... you're the first who's been at a distance." Saber took the burger from her hand. "DNA. Yummy." He sunk his teeth into the burger, chewed, and smiled. Riley was grinning at him. "WHAT'RE YOU SMILING ABOUT?!" "Nothing!~" "Hmmm..." He glared at her suspiciously, then turned to Mary-Kate. "So yeah," His voice was lower. "Why can you smell me?"

Mary-Kate looked over at Saber, eyebrows raised. "What do you mean 'Why can you smell me'?", she demanded, "I have a nose. And you smell like strawberries!"
The teenager looked up and at Riley and rolled her eyes. "Can you smell Saber's strawberry smell from there?", she asked, unable to get Saber's strawberry fragrence out of her nose. "It's a good thing I like strawberries..", she muttered to Saber, "Or I'd already have kicked you out."
She looked back up at Riley and waited for her sister's reply.

Riley blinked, her grin growing. "I don't smell anything. Saber smells like strawberries? I wanna' smell!" She got up out of her seat, and neared him. "... I still don't smell anything." She got closer. "Still nothing." Closer. "Nada." She smelled his hair. "... it kinda' smells like grapes. Where're you getting strawberries from?" Saber sighed agitatedly. "My strawberry smell is barely noticeable. I only knew one person who could smell it so easily..." "You smell like grapes." "That's my hair." The girl took his hand and sniffed it. "Hey..." She sniffed it some more. "You DO smell like strawberries! That is so cool. Only real men smell like strawberries and grapes." "Shut up, Riley." She giggled, let go, and went back to her seat. She was eating her chicken fingers, watching the two. "My friend Nicole and I were really close... she had a HUGE crush on me..." He smiled. ... a sudden darkness came over Riley, a chill went through her, and a flashbacks came to mind. Didn't Nicole used to OBSESS over a Saber...? Who smelled like fruit...? Saber went on. "I kinda' liked her too... a little... she had gray eyes like yours. We used to hang out a lot... she'd be attacked by monsters too. But she was really smart. Like you two. But one day, she kinda' disappeared... sometimes we'd run into each other while I was on the streets, but not often, and it wasn't for long..." The boy sighed softly. "I haven't seen her in a long time."

Mary-Kate's gaze darkened as Saber mentioned Nicole. The blonde teenager remembered Nicole obsessing over a Saber who happened to smell like fruit.
She gave a barely audible sqeak. "Are you sure her name was Nicole?", she whispered. The color was completley drained from the teenager's face, and her gray eyes were getting darker by the second. A look of desperation set in on the girl's worried features.
"Please say her name wasn't Nicole... please say her name wasn't Nicole", the blonde thought to herself, even though it made sense. Nicole used to talk about a Saber she knew when she was little. Sure, not many kids were names Saber, but Mary-Kate hadn't even thought about it. The time-line made sense, and there was one thing Mary-Kate had learned over the years.
You can't argue with facts.

Every detail she had described. His unique amber eyes, black curly hair, his height, his smell... It all fit. Everything fit. You're that Saber...? A hurricane of depression was sweeping within Riley. You...? "How could I forget my best friend's name?" He asked, obviously insulted. "Nicole Elizabeth Sowells. That was her name." Riley was shivering. This was the Saber. "Saber... your last name doesn't start with a W... does it?" Saber looked a little surprised. "Yeah. It does. Saber Tod Wenzel. Why?" This was him.

Mary-Kate looked up at Saber with a sad expression. "You /are/ that Saber...", she muttered. She cleared her throat. "Let me explain, ok?"
This was going to be hard. Mary-Kate hadn't really talked about Nicole since she'd sacrificed herself to save the twins. She took a deep breath and looked Saber in the eyes.
"You remember me telling you how we came to Camp? And how I told you that we had a very close friend that acted like our mother, so we weren't as lonley as we could've possibly been? Well, that wasn't Ari. It was Nicole. She used to go on and on about you all the time, Saber. She was sure one day she was going to go back and find you. She was like a mother to me and Riley. We never did anything without Nicole, and Nicole didn't do anything without us. After all, when you're a demigod, you tend to bond over the lack of family stability..."
Mary-Kate's eyes were getting darker, and she could no longer look Saber in the eyes. She kept her eyes trained on her hands as she proceded with the story. "Nicole was the Head Counselor of the Athena cabin, so I guess she thought we were her responsibility or something. One day, about a year ago now, the three of us went on a Quest." The teenager's eyes were flaming with anger now, and she clneched her hands into fists. Her anger wasn't directed towards Saber, however, but towards herself. "Riley and I forgot our shields. It was the stupidest thing I've ever done. We were fighting a monster, and Nicole threw us her shield. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time. But right after she threw us that shield, the monster attacked her and forgot about us."
Mary-Kate's eyes were misty as she continued. "Nicole was overwhealmed. Riley and I did everything we could, but that stupid monster wouldn't leave her alone. That monster just picked Nicole up and threw her like she was nothing. Riley and I killed the monster, but it was too late. Nicole was gone"
A single tear found it's way down Mary-Kate's cheek and she quickly wiped it away before looking Saber in the eyes. "Nicole's not coming back. So it's going to be a /really/ long time before you see her again. Hopefully. Unless you die. Which is also a possibility." The blonde held up her right wrist, which contained her owlhead bracelet. "Nicole helped us make a shield not long after we first arrived at Camp. I forgot it on that ONE Quest. Now it never leaves my wrist. It goes to prove. Bad things happen to good people, Saber. You should always be careful."
The blonde averted her eyes and turned and put her head down on the table, staring at the napkin holder directly across from her.
